Godfather Death

The class assignment was to choose an old fable/fairy tale and design a contemporary book cover for it. I chose a Brothers Grimm tale about a child that is handed over to death as a godson when his father can't afford to raise the baby himself. After deciding on what I wanted for the visual, I posted an ad on craigslist for an infant model. As for the skeleton hands, I borrowed an anatomy skeleton from one of the figure drawing studios on my campus. I photographed the baby and the skeleton separately and then photoshopped the two images together. That way I didn't frighten the child or the mother. Also, it was more efficient to photograph them separately. The baby and his mother were only in the studio for a total of 20 minutes.

Art + Music Festival

Last semester I was approached by a student named Kaitlyn Priestly. She asked if I would mind designing a matching poster and flyer for an event she was organizing. The concept for the exhibition was to show student work while also playing live music by student musicians. With only a day to design the poster and flyer, I decided to photograph eyes and ears of Ringling students to represent the defining feature of the exhibition.

The Thrills of Time Travel

Black & White Week

I made a promise to myself to carry around my camera for a week and take black and white photos of everything I saw. It ended up only lasting a few days but I got some great photos out of it. Photography is such a rewarding endeavor and I need to force myself to partake more often.

Global Warming

First photo emulsion screen printing assignment. I was poking fun at all the false information and fear tactics that are employed in some of this country's "news" sources.
